Team Spotlight with Andrew Nave
Get to know the people behind the insights in our Team Spotlight series. We sit down with employees throughout the firm to learn about their experiences, background, and what makes them tick. In this edition, we chat with Andrew Nave, Retail & E-Commerce Industry Team Associate, who has been with KS&R since 2017 and holds a B.S. in Statistics with a minor in Math & Economics from SUNY Oneonta. In this Q&A, learn about Andrew’s favorite childhood memories, best purchases, and additional insights into his personality.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the KS&R team?
Getting to work with coworkers to help solve problems. Every day brings something new (it really is true no day is ever the same!) and being able to tackle the day’s challenges with a great group of people is something I really enjoy. The people at KS&R are really what make the company shine bright and I feel fortunate to be a part of the team, whether that’s chatting at a team meeting or playing a game on a Friday afternoon.
What brings you great joy in your life?
Honestly, just being out in the sunshine. Growing up in Syracuse I’ve come to appreciate (and certainly not take it for granted) when the sun comes out. No matter if there’s snow on the ground or green grass, it really makes a difference.
What advice would you give to yourself at age 15?
It’s not as big of a deal as you think it is. There were times when I was a teenager I would freak out over some teenage problem, but I would be perfectly fine an hour later eating pizza and drinking Mountain Dew.
What are you most grateful for at this moment?
I’m grateful for a lot of things and I try to practice that throughout my day. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle of everyday life but I try to remember people are going through worse things than me sitting at a red light or forgetting to do laundry.
If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?
I’m going to go outside the box here and say heat ray vision. I would never need a microwave or oven; plus, I wouldn’t have to brush snow off my car and could make the temperature just a little warmer around me.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Playing outside with my neighborhood friends during the summer. Our 3 houses were all next to each other with big backyards, plus some woods in the back, so it was perfect to run around and do whatever shenanigans we were up to that day.
If you could share a meal with any individuals, living or dead, who would they be?
Kobe Bryant. That guy had a work ethic like no other. I’d love to pick his brain over some steak and wine.
What is the best/worst purchase you’ve ever made?
I’m going to say my BOSE noise-canceling headphones. They come in handy especially when I’m flying. I can watch my shows or put on some beats while I’m working. Disclaimer though: you may need to come right up in front of me to get my attention if I have them on.
