What brought you to KS&R?
During my graduate studies at Syracuse University, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to pursue a career in applied statistics. I had spent several years teaching at the collegiate level, but wanted to get hands-on experience. When I learned of KS&R, I was drawn to the prospect of working with cutting-edge statistical tools and a wide variety of clients.
Congratulations on earning your Ph.D. in Statistics! That is no easy feat. What is the key to your success?
Diligence. If the answer does not come easily, don't settle for less than the correct solution. Keep reading, working, searching, and drinking coffee until you get it right!
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I am a competitive beach volleyball player, even in the winter!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. I came close, but once I got to the student teaching stage in college, I realized I couldn't spend the rest of my life in high school.
What is your greatest extravagance?
I cannot turn down a good craft beer. I often find myself leaving the grocery store with a bottle of an India Pale Ale like Dogfish 120, or a small batch release like Bourbon County Stout.
What sound or noise do you love?
I'm a huge Buffalo Bills fan, so hearing ‘Shout' come over the loudspeaker at Ralph Wilson Stadium has a special place in my heart.
What's in your refrigerator?
Ham, cheese, and honey mustard. My wife makes fun of me for having the same lunch (a ham sandwich) every day for the last seven years.
What one thing have you not done yet that you really want to do?
Attend a Super Bowl.
What is the one question you hate being asked?
"Has anyone ever told you that you look like Justin Long?" I swear I have been asked that at least 50 times! And no, I do NOT think I look like him!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
The Flash was my favorite superhero growing up, so I would have to choose super speed. I hate taking planes anywhere and super speed would definitely solve that problem!
