KS&R Participates in the Syracuse Corporate Challenge

A record-number of KS&R employees strapped on their running shoes on Tuesday, June 7th, at Onondaga Lake Park for the 34th annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge. This is the 5th straight year KS&R participated in the annual 3.5 mile race.

The Chase Corporate Challenge was founded in 1977 by the New York Road Runners with a single race in New York City, and included 200 runners from 50 companies. The Challenge currently consists of competitions in 13 cities around the globe, supporting charities in each of the host cities. This year at the Syracuse event, Chase will be donating to Honor Flight Syracuse, which flies World War II and terminally ill veterans to Washington DC to visit and reflect together at these memorials.

More than 6,500 runners from approximately 280 Central New York businesses took part this year, including representatives from Team KS&R.

The Chase Corporate Challenge is an event that many at KS&R look forward to! It's a great way to come together with other Central New York companies; take a stand for health and fitness in the workplace; and engage in a friendly rivalry with the other teams. Not all participants in the Chase Corporate Challenge race competitively; many jog or walk the course. There is a festive atmosphere during the race which attracts non-runners as well.

The scoring system used in the Chase Corporate Challenge is straightforward: take the fastest four people on each team and compare them against the other teams. Categories for scoring include male and female teams, as well as teams comprised of both male and female members.

"Watching companies coming together and supporting such an important cause is a great experience," said Josh Ryan, KS&R Project Manager. "It's also one of the ways KS&R demonstrates our deep commitment to the Central New York community."
