Congratulations on your recent promotion to Project Manager! What brought you to KS&R in the first place?
Thank you! Actually, it was just luck! I responded to KS&R's job posting in the newspaper. I had just graduated from an accelerated MBA program where I really enjoyed the fast pace and exposure to various subject areas. KS&R is a great fit for me because of the variety of work. I really enjoy learning new things, and can honestly say that I learn something new every day at KS&R.
What is your "happy place"?
My happy place is simple; relaxing with family and friends, or sitting down with a good book. I love the feeling of not being able to put a book down, and have spent many nights staying up much later than I should because I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
What would your 3 genie wishes be?
#1...that I could clone myself. Having two of me would mean getting things done more quickly and having more time to spend with the people that are most important in my life.
#2...that my dog could live forever. I have a 10 year old Weimaraner named Skeeter who has a very quirky personality. He makes me laugh often, and I just cannot imagine loving another dog as much!
#3...that I could have 3 more wishes. ☺ (Oh come-on, I work in quantitative research, you must have seen that one coming!)
What is on your pizza?
I am not picky about toppings, and will eat just about anything on my pizza. If I have a pizza craving (this happens a lot) it has to be classic cheese and pepperoni (with fresh-cracked black pepper). I put pepper on just about everything.
What is your most useful talent?
My organizational skills. I couldn't successfully manage multiple projects at the same time and stay detail-oriented without being really well organized. My family and friends describe my dedication to organization as obsessive -- my Christmas spending spreadsheet that tracks my gift purchases since 2007 is just one example!
What useless talent do you possess?
Reading my husband's mind. I almost always know what he is thinking. But since we are usually thinking the same thing anyway, it doesn't really matter.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That my career goal was to be a lawyer. My undergraduate degree is in Political Science, and I planned to go to law school. Then in my senior year, I decided to get my MBA instead.
What is your leadership style?
I hope that my KS&R team members would say that my leadership style is very hands-on. I try to lead by example, while also giving others the opportunity to grow and learn on their own.
If you could have a conversation with one person, living or dead, who would it be?
I would like the opportunity to say goodbye to my grandmother, who passed away this fall. She cared so much about and spent so much time worrying about her family, but still knew how to have a good time. She was inevitably the most energetic person in the room. It would be wonderful to be surrounded by her infectious personality and laugh one last time.
What's on your to-do list?
I have a to-do list every day (see my obsessive commitment to organization above). My Dad is constantly reminding me that I continually "sweat the small stuff". My big to-do list, therefore, is to spend more time with family and friends. Happy place, here I come!
